Hollywood take notice…

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

If you’re going to remake a movie, as you seem to have done for the umpteenth million time, please follow the lead of one Mr. Rob Zombie. Not only did he remake my all time favorite horror movie, he actually improved it, I have to give a shout out to Mr. Zombie, sir you rock! Thank you for putting what obviously was a love of the original movie into the remake, I salute you sir!

Awesome Zombie novels…

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I am a huge fan of zombie movies and books, and I happened to have found some of the best authors out there. It all started when a friend from work gave me “City of the Dead by Brian Keene” to read (though it’s the second in the series, I read it first then went back bought both and read them in the correct order “The Rising by Brian Keene followed by “City of the Dead”). I would highly recommend those two books and pretty much anything written by Brian Keene, I happen to personally like “The Conquerer Worms” or “Dead Sea”. In my obsession I have stumbled across a couple of other authors that I would recommend.

One being Z. A. Recht, he has a series called The Morningstar Saga. I just finished the first part “Plague of the dead” and that book rocked my world.

He goes in a different direction than most, but one of the best parts of the book is the fact that he has the *sprinters* and the *shamblers*, I’ll let you read the book to figure out that part, but I would *HIGHLY* recommend this book, it grabs you from the beginning and just does not let you go. I just ordered the follow up “Thunder and Ashes” but I won’t get it till sometime next week, so I have to wait :(. Another author I am going to check out today is Kim Paffenroth and his book Dying to Live: a novel of life among the undead. I understand that it is supposed be really good (from all the reviews, 10+ that I have read) and I will let you, my most awesome readers (you know who you are) know when I finish with the book. I also understand the that follow up novel will be released on the 25th of November October of 2008. I am stoked, cause if I not mistaken and this book is as good as I think it will be, I’ll be on top of that one.

P.S. If you read Brian Keene be warned that he is an awesome author, but he grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go, and he is not an *american storyteller* by most senses of the word, but you’ll have to read “The Rising and City of the Dead” to understand what I mean.

New skates…

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

wh00t…I ordered some skates over the weekend (yesterday as a matter of fact).

I got some quadline skates (yes the black boots, sheesh). I want to have the freedom of rollerblading, with the stability of traditional roller skates. Oh and I got

bright orange wheels. I am so stoked, they shipped today so I should hopefully see them by the end of the week (as they are coming from my hometown of SF). Whee, I am sooooo stoked, I can’t wait to get out with my baby (she’s a rollerblader, I tried, but I just couldn’t get comfy with having the wheels down the middle of my foot, I know everyone else did, but I just have a big hang up about it). Toodles… (oh and I ordered them from www.skates.com Great place, fast service.
